When ordering a qipao, translate the reference picture into choices you can discuss and try. A striking standing photograph does not show what it feels like to sit, walk or reach. Kelly’s current qipao starting price is ¥800 in CNY; the final quote depends on fabric, design and quantity.
Start with the occasion and your preferences
Explain whether the garment is for an event, dinner or another use and how much movement you expect. Say which features of your reference matter most and which you would change. You do not need to reproduce every detail of a photograph. Keep your own comfort and desired appearance central to the brief.
Discuss neckline and closure
Point out your preferred neckline, collar if wanted, sleeve or sleeveless design, and fastening details. Ask to see how the proposed closure will work and whether you can manage it comfortably. A decorative feature visible in a photo does not explain the entire fastening system. Confirm lining and any details that affect the quote rather than assuming they are included.
Agree length and walking room
Bring intended shoes and discuss hem length and any slit before the design is approved. Explain how much coverage and room to move you prefer. Ask the tailor to assess the practical result for your selected design and fabric. Do not approve only from a front-facing pose: walking and sitting are part of the intended use too.
Identify the fabric, not just the color
Save composition, sample reference, color and pattern with the order. Discuss care and lining and ask how the actual fabric works with the design. A photo cannot confirm silk content, current availability or an exact color match. If matching accessories or another garment, compare them with the sample where practical.

Use the fitting to check the whole brief
Wear the intended base layer and shoes when possible. Sit, walk, turn and reach gently; tell the tailor where pressure or restriction occurs. Check the neckline and closure without forcing an uncomfortable movement. Record agreed adjustments and the next fitting or collection date. Before handover, confirm fabric, length, fastening and every ordered detail together. Keep a copy of the final brief if you may reorder later.
