A clear trouser order starts with where you want the waistband to sit and how you intend to wear the trousers. Two pairs can share a color but feel very different. At Kelly’s, trousers start at ¥400 in CNY; the final quote depends on fabric, design and quantity.

Describe the waist position

Show where you want the waistband to sit instead of relying only on a label such as high-rise or low-rise. Say whether you expect to use a belt, braces or another agreed waistband detail. Bring a reference pair if it helps, and explain what works and what you want changed. A reference garment is a conversation aid, not an instruction to copy every dimension.

Choose a leg shape for the actual use

Explain whether you want a straighter, slimmer or wider leg and show a reference for the silhouette. Discuss room for sitting and walking as well as the standing view. Ask the tailor how your selected fabric will work with the design. A photo cannot show fiber content or stretch.

Set the length with the intended shoes

Bring the shoes you expect to wear, or discuss the relevant pairs before the hem is agreed. Look at the trousers from front, side and back. If you want one pair to work with different shoe heights, explain the compromise you prefer rather than assuming one length will create the same result with every shoe.

Make pockets and fastening explicit

Record pockets, pleats if wanted, fastening and hem treatment. Say what you usually carry and whether you want the pockets used or mainly decorative. Ask which design details change the quote. Save the fabric reference and agreed details together so a picture of a broad silhouette does not leave the construction choices unresolved.

Sit and move before collection

At the fitting, sit, stand, walk and check the waistband and seat for comfort. Tell the tailor where pulling or pressure occurs. Confirm any adjustment and the next appointment before leaving. At collection, repeat the check with the intended shoes and verify the ordered details. If ordering more than one pair, identify each fabric and design separately rather than assuming every pair will be identical.
